This week I hoped to attend & perform at Poetry Bites, Drummonds 42, Grizzly Pear and Word Up… but I found in my emails from the previous week an invitation to read in LONDON!

This has meant due to finances, time & energy I am staying in after work all week so that I can be ready for FRIDAY!

Hark Magazine published my poem ‘Clench’ back in an early issue, they are now releasing Issue 4. This venture started as an online magazine, now they have (like many) started selling hard copies too. This event in London is to celebrate the success so far and also to promote and sell the latest issue. I am incredibly excited to be performing with others in London, to meet the team and new to me poets. My tickets are booked… it is real!

I am also currently writing submissions, involved in a Poetry Society Project for Hanbury Hall (Stately Home), writing articles and organising INKSPILL (25-26th October) our online writing retreat weekend, right here on the blog.

I have been booked for paid events next summer and have just finished my first commission for Naked Lungs, ‘Urban Nature’ which was performed at Birmingham Literature Festival earlier on in October. I had the privilege of opening the Poetry, Performance (and Everything Else )Festival in Birmingham for Arts All Over the Place and performed at the closing event this month too.

I work for Writing West Midlands as an Assistant Writer and am starting a new 1 to 1 Mentor role next month at the Worcester group. I also hope to do some Arts Award training with them later in the year.
