NaPoWriMo 2022 ~ Day 14

Standard

Full post here.

We are 2 weeks into Napowrimo, halfway there!

Today’s featured participant is Summer Blues.

Our featured online journal for the day is actually a twitter-only journal: The Lickety~Split.

Today’s challenge is a fun one: write a poem that takes the form of the opening scene of the movie of your life. Does it open with a car chase? A musical number? A long scene panning across a verdant plain?

I started with the featured poem. I loved the winding of this one, the scope and range and that surprising end.

Today I’m a Masterpiece

I piece myself together from the scraps
Of whichever dream I can still hold on to.

I am work in progress, a moving picture,
a palace reimagined.
I am an active verb and I take an object.
Today I am
an enjambment,
an incomplete sentence,

I then had a scroll through the featured Twitter journal, Lickety~split. I read 4 poems. Then it was onto the prompt.

I think what I produced today was more cliché than poetry. Motorbikes and mountain roads were involved. I will come back to this film prompt another day and try again. I guess it very much depends on the kind of mood you are in on the day!
