FSF – Five Sentence Fiction – Desolate

Standard

I was on Meghan’s blog searching out her Picture It & Write entry and I found her FSF post. Up for another writing challenge I went to investigate and found this…

NewFSFBadge-1

What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week I will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction.

This week:  DESOLATE

desolate

Desolate

The once victorious city sunk into foundations of ash and rubble.

Steps that led nowhere left inside buildings, bombed beyond recognition.

The world drained of colour and life, a vast landscape, grave and empty of anything other than charcoal grey remains and smoke.

The skies unforgiving prepare to rain down on the desolate city.

Unloved and discarded, a blot on the map, a mistake.

power of words

“It’s amazing.” Stella whispered. The Gallery was quiet and she was saying it more to herself than anybody else. This year’s theme was ‘Life’ and the space was full of artistic interpretations. Somehow the black & white canvas caught Stella’s imagination. She sat down to be absorbed by it for longer. Eventually she took her notebook out of her cream handbag & started to scribble, emptying her head of every thought.

Life in liquid

Submerged inside

a wet, red mouth.

Held until breath

can no longer find

any space.

Thrust forward the water

is projected, escaping

splashing and forming droplets,

the artistic random dance of fluid motion.

Aqueous confetti

shared like promises,

luscious intimacy caught by the camera’s lens.

Yielding to external pressure

the water escapes and falls onto skin.

Dripping softly down to their feet,

Beyond the frame of this Artwork.

Stella replaced the lid on her pen and tucked her notebook back into her bag. Slowly she got up and moved onto the next piece of art.

Best Moment Award

Standard

We were awarded this back in late April – May has been a mad month so I sat on it for a while and now have the time to pass it forward.

best-moment-award-2

My thanks to Kristen Hope for nominating me for this award. Go check out her great blog. Sounds to me like she is making big life changes this year too – just like me.

The rules of receiving this award are that I must write an acceptance speech and nominate other bloggers.

Acceptance Speech red carpet

2013was always going to be my year of transformation and change. I have been at rock bottom for far too many years and this year have definitely started a ‘journey’ – my life has been in stagnate pools for too long – unchanged and laborious – recently I have re-discovered 2 things;

Opportunity brings opportunities

Have faith to take that leap

I also know that when I am driving my life I am quite good at controlling the way things go. (Being strong minded and determined) there are some major changes in my life this year – some I am not yet able to post about – but believe me they weren’t easy decisions to make – my life is much better for making them though!

One of the best things was starting this blog. Hard to maintain at the moment as I don’t have 24/7 net access. I have met so many great people – read so much talent fuelled writing and generally had a great time. And now have started picking up blog awards – which feels amazing.

I am grateful to each and every one of you who follows A Writers Fountain and I love the fact that people now leave comments as well as likes.

I created the blog to keep me on the yellow brick road to a writing life (last time I gave up after I had no rent money) and I hoped it would be read – not only have I achieved the initial objectives but I have enjoyed every splash. I have been inspired by so many great bloggers out there it will be difficult to choose my nominations – especially after passing the other awards forward recently.

I decided my criteria for this would be Blogs that have offered me a best moment – an inspiring post, an opportunity, a connection – that is not to say that if your blog is not nominated you haven’t provided me the above – I wouldn’t be following you in the first place if I didn’t love your blog. I also believe in spreading the love – so if I have nominated you for a different award you might not be nominated again for a while.

So my nominations for Best Moment Award are;

http://travel-monkey.me/

Mainly thank you for all your wonderful blogs.

Day 4! What am I most scared of!

Standard

A great little challenge – I have lost 2 days this month – next month I am in Camp Nanowrimo – so I am earmarking this one for August!

Kristen Hope Mazzola

Happy first day of June everyone! Hope it’s a wonderful month for everyone! 🙂

Ok so today is when I reveal my deepest, darkest fear… Honestly, I am completely afraid of being alone…meaning without a significant other. I am completely in love with my boyfriend and I am terrified to loose him. I have had multiple nightmares about him dying prematurely and it’s awful. I really am not capable of going too long single either. Since I was fourteen, I think I have been actually single for about six weeks max except for a year ago when mike and I took some time off for a few months, but I don’t completely count that because I feel like my heart was still has (to be realistic it has been since I was 14)… So there you have it, I’m scared of being alone.
