NaNoWriMo Day 13# 13/30

Today was marathon day over at Camp NaNoWriMo. The idea: to write as many words as possible & write for a longer period of time. Just like a real marathon but typing not running. I had planned to do a 3hour challenge of my own.

In Camp NaNoWriMo you can join in with regional camps, which is great for International Writers. Last night I joined my Region on Facebook with the aim of joining in with a real life / real time marathon event. I found out where they were meeting. I wasn’t sure I would wake up with enough energy, it would mean driving over a half marathon into the city and then meeting up for a few hours. Just like all London Marathons, I basically woke up too late to join in fully. I actually managed some words, then I fell asleep. (Glad I wasn’t asleep face down on my laptop in a city café!)

Next week I plan to work on my manuscript for morning and evening sessions for a few days and try to take part in my own mini marathon next weekend.

At least I got to Camp! Congratulations to everybody who took part in the marathon!

    • Thanks for the encouragement Tracy – much needed. I didn’t really partake in the Nanothon much in the end – today I have written over 2000 words to try and make up for it. Have to balance the rest of the Camp with work now, so just have to hope for the best. I was losing momentum and ideas, it wasn’t easy, a little research yesterday and I am back on track!

Hope the marathon went okay for you, how did you do?

      • I only marathoned about 2500 words. I agree it is tough when work and stuff get in the way. I tried to type on the couch for a few minutes with the laptop, but my daughter trolled me and closed the lid. So I gave up until she went to bed.

      • It is hard, but I am glad I am attempting Camp NaNoWriMo and I already have manuscripts in mind for the Summer Camp. I am at least getting to grips with the manuscript. I didn’t manage many words over the Nanothon, however on Monday after work (and before) I was at home with no internet access and I managed over 3000! Hoping for another few big counts like that this week before the weekend.
I think today’s count will only be 100’s as I have more work to do before bed. Good luck with yours, keep going. Happy Writing 🙂
