Never underestimate the power of nature,
Watch carefully and you will have your breath
taken away.
A bad day, built up by miniscule
mismatching moments.
Forcing the pieces of the jigsaw to fit
tearing the edges with
ragged passion.
The whole day brought to an abrupt end
as night falls and nature starts to take over.
You are a minute part of this earth,
A bit part,
an understudy.
Consequence of players.
Mother nature does not entertain the thought
we belong here,
Destroying whole cities in one traumatic night
Of true force.
Never once catching sight of her reflection
and letting her thoughts fall out of control.
Like most women ( 😉 ), Mother Nature can sure make her presence felt when she wants to… Good piece, thank you for sharing.
Gray – what can I say …. it’s a gift (Women = presence felt)
Thanks for reading it,
I always try to read them all.. I’m glad for the opportunity
Me too. Have just read them all too.
I am okay 🙂 Long night, but safe and sound. Welcome! Happy to have you here! I. Love. These. Lines:
“You are a minute part of this earth,

WOW!!! Incredibly poignant! Thank you for a great read!!!

Thanks Kellie, as a free-write the part that flowed the quickest was the section you liked the lines from the best.
Was great reading the other free writes this evening too.
My best lines always come when they just flow, unforced. That is the only way anyone should write: in the moment and when they feel it.
Once again, fabulous lines! ♥
To be honest I craft my writing but my poetry is almost always freely written.
Love all the imagery but especially “miniscule mismatching moments.” Your words captured the intensity of storms.
Thanks – glad you liked it.

very powerful. Your words swept me away
Very well said! Strong, like the storms it speaks of.

Thanks Charles.
“You are a minute part of this earth” – so true! Your words here are wonderful.
Thank you Christy.
Storms can lay waste to so much, so fast, that both urban and natural worlds take many years to recover, we are just bit players in the theatrics at natures directions. Loved the way you explored the prompt!
Thanks Sean, nature certainly has a way of reminding us we are just bit players.
