A week in and I have just discovered (this being my 1st ever NaPoWriMo camp!) where the prompts are.
They are optional, I have enjoyed creating daily poetry on my own and will continue to do so.
At the weekend I will then attempt to follow the prompts and create 7 poems and post 7 extracts from them here for you all to enjoy!
Which I will do over the next few days. Keep checking back for extra extracts!
Incase any of you are lost – this is where the prompts are hidden
Day 1 # 1st April 2013
Using the first line of another poem.
Extract#1
To a wonderful mother
Who held me from my
first moment on Earth.
Whose arms have always
enclosed me safely in a hug.
Whose hand was always there to
hold mine
when I shook with nerves or fear,
Who wiped my forehead
and stroked my hair
Until the nightmare had
filtered out of my head.
The first line belongs to John Hegley and comes from ‘Smothering Sunday’

Day 2# 2nd April 2013
Extract #2
Love will never hurt you,
Your parents will never lie,
You will always be able to
Achieve all your dreams,
You can be anything
you want to be.
The monsters from your
Nightmares don’t exist,
He loves you very much.
Life will make you happy,
I will always be there,
I will always be there for you.
This idea belonged to Kelsey Howard — that of a poem that tells a lie. I think you could have a poem that’s all lies.
